MY-MUNOFS VIII 2017 - Day 4

Final Day of MY-MUNOF's
After a fun evening at the water park and a visit to the mall AGAIN for dinner and the arcade, we all fell fast asleep into our cozy beds. At 6:30 am, we all jumped out of bed to get our last day in Singapore started.  Here are some action shots of a few of the students.

Thibault votes on an amendment.

Prue speaks out about an amendment to a resolution.

Shreya asks a Point of Interest question.

Dhruv, eloquently, points out an issue with the amendment.

POW! Afiq delivers a very passionate speech.

Finn is getting more confident in sharing his opinion.

Michael is having an awesome time doing what he loves.

Mr. Godfrey and I had feel honored to have been able to spend a weekend with these amazing students. They were very kind and respectful of each other and those around them. They were always inclusive and creative on how to spend their time together. They supported and helped each other with the how-to's of MUN. They were even debating on the way home!

MY-MUNOFS VIII 2017 - Day 2

Day II - The Action Begins!

Wow! What a fantastic first day! We had a bit of everything today (including terrible weather...it rained alllllllll day!) It was a slow start to the morning as opening ceremonies at Overseas Family School did not start until 2 pm. We all had a late breakfast and by 10am we were in the park across the road from the hotel, by the beach, practicing our opening speeches, giving constructive feedback to each other and enjoying a little exercise as we walked the park grounds.

After that we had a light lunch and got all dressed up and ready to go. The ceremony was filled with a couple of great speeches by the middle school VP and the Secretary General of MYMUNOFS, a great vocal performance from the middle school choir and last but not least a rockin' rendition of Bon Jovi's "It's My Life" by their middle school rock band!

After that it was straight to the classrooms for some training workshops. Our M'KIS students loved these workshops and found them very informative. They now feel more than ready to take on the MUN conference starting tomorrow.

In the evening we had dinner at the mall across the street from the hotel and then spent some time relaxing at the arcade, getting our gaming on! We then came back to the hotel and the students had a chance to catch up on the work they've missed over the past two days of school. Then it was early to bed as we've got a long day ahead of us tomorrow. The action beings at 8am sharp!

Stay tuned for more tomorrow! From Singapore...good night and wish us all luck tomorrow :)

MY-MUNOFS VIII 2017 - Day 1

MYMUNOFS VIII Singapore 2017

DAY I:

Today was a fun-filled day of bus travelling, immigration stops and rest stops:)  The students were wonderfully patient and in great spirits even though we were unable to visit the water park. Unfortunately, the water park was closed once we finally reached the hotel. We were the last coach in a bundle to arrive at immigration and it took almost 2 hours to get everyone through and back on the bus. But, the M'KIS spirit never died and everyone made the best of an unfortunate situation.
Tomorrow we will have a slow start with breakfast, a walk in the park and some opening speech practice. Then we will go to the Overseas Family School for the Opening Ceremonies and various workshops relating to the students councils and interests. We will continue to update the blog every evening so stay tuned for all the exciting news to come.

KLMUN IX 2017 - Day 3

The M'KIS delegation ended their KLMUN IX conference with many good memories and with much experience gained. All of the delegates and Deputy Chairs represented M'KIS well over the weekend as resolutions were merged, speeches given, debate held and voting took place. Our delegates had several resolutions passed in their committees during this very busy conference.

Several M'KIS delegates earned awards in recognition for their outstanding work during the conference:

Dhruv Leekha - Honorable Mention, General Assembly

       Bassem Sandeela - Honorable Mention,
Disarmament & International Security Council

Muhammad Afiq Aqlan Bin Edzuar Zar-

Congratulate all of the participants for their hard work and dedication! M'KIS MUN was represented very well!

The MUN Club is very proud to have 5 of our high school club members sitting in their first experience at deputy chairs this weekend! Sanjana Sivakumar, MUN Club Co-President in charge of delegate and chair training, has been working hard to help prepare them!
