KLMUN IX 2017 - Day 1

The M'KIS delegation arrived at Garden International School today ready to debate some very important current world issues. Most of the delegates gave their opening speeches today but, because there was minimal time on this first day, debate really didn't get started in earnest yet.

The M'KIS delegation looked sharp and
ready for some serious debate!

Well, maybe not everything was so
serious on Day 1!

Victor Skjoldby doing research and listening during lobbying
in the Disarmament and International Security Council.

Bassem Sandeela, the Delegate from Switzerland, giving
valuable input to his DISC committee.

Joon Won Suh and Jerry Choi (delegates) sharing their insights in the
very interesting Advisory Panel on the Question of the Middle East
(APQ-ME), as and Jessica Mizuno (Deputy Chair) observes.

While the time in committees went quickly today, several delegates in the General Assembly gave persuasive opening speeches in this very large committee of 50+ delegates. Aryaman Chauhan, Delegate of the DPRK, and Hamza Rana, Delegate of Colombia, both gave solid opening speeches. There was not enough time in this first day for Dhruv Leekha, Delegate of Turkey, to give his opening speech, and it was postponed until tomorrow.

We are looking forward to very active Day 2 tomorrow full of lobbying, merging resolutions, and the debates that come with trying to pass those resolutions. With the gala dinner tomorrow evening after the hard work during the day, the M'KIS delegation will have a full day!
